1.1 Introduction to the Course

Purpose of This Course

The purpose of this course is to help the student gain an understanding of the data analytics process and give students experience in key machine learning algorithms and how to apply them to a variety of problems. This course will examine the working of the key machine learning algorithms so that students can see the strengths and weaknesses of each algorithm and know for what types of problems the algorithms are best suited.

Software Used in the Course

This course will use multiple data analytics processing applications because specific applications are good for demonstrating how specific algorithms work, and not all algorithms are supported by all environments. It is also good for students to gain experience with a few popular applications.
