Multi-KPI Dashboards and Publishing Online

In this section, we will show some more advanced features. So far, we have only learned about creating single charts or graphs. However, you may have seen visuals online that include multiple metrics and displays in the same place. This is called a dashboard (sort of like the dashboard in your car has multiple displays). The first video below walks you through how to create your own dashboard out of the graphs and charts you’ve already made. The second video will show you how to embed that dashboard (or any Tableau visuals) into a web page through a simple copy-and-paste of the HTML embed code.

The internet is the best place to get your data analyses out there quickly to a broad audience. Tableau Public makes this very easy. To follow along with the video below, you will need a free Tableau Public account, which is different and separate from the Tableau account you made previously to download the desktop software. Go to Tableau Public to create your account. Then follow along with the video below.

Data Extract Error

If you get an error that says you need to use the data menu to create an extract for the data source, then do exactly that. Go up to the data menu (on the menu bar), and select the extract option, and then select the data source you're using. This will fix the issue.
