The Financial Accounting Practice Sets with Excel course contains several accounting practice sets, encompassing most of the accounting skills covered in introductory financial accounting courses. Each practice set provides instructions covering the Excel skills needed to complete the practice set. Instructions are embedded within each Excel practice set as well as in the online text resource both in written and video form. Practice sets are graded based on the correctness of the accounting problem as well as the correct use of relevant Excel functions. A list of Excel functions used in this resource can be found in Lesson 1: Excel Skills Used in this Resource.
The practice problems and assignments are paired with an intelligent, robust, and detailed grading engine that automates the grading process and provides students with immediate and clear feedback. Optional LMS integration provides for automatic recording of grades into the LMS, as well as the option to embed assignments directly into the LMS.
Customize This Resource
Not all instructors use the same textbook or terminology when referring to account names (e.g., should I call it Allowance for Doubtful Accounts or Allowance for Uncollectible Accounts?). Not a problem! As you prepare to adopt this resource, the author team will work with you to identify the ideal chart of accounts for your course and customize your version of the resource to accommodate these differences. You can customize the resource for your course in the following ways:
-
Which account names are used
-
Which accounts are included in any given assignment’s drop-down list as available answer options
-
Whether the ‘Do It For Me’ magic wand button is active or inactive either in a particular assignment, or course-wide
-
Which of the assignments that are available in this resource you use in your course
-
Whether assignments have unique versions for each student, or have one static version for all students
-
Whether Excel instructional videos and/or written Excel instructions are included within the Excel assignment or not
In addition, instructors have the option of including their own multiple choice and true/false questions within the Excel assignments. Simply add the question in the assessments tab, allocate the correct number of points for each question, and notify the authors of the change so the authors can update the assignment's point allocation for your version of the resource.
