Modern satellites and other space hardware are often as much “cooked“ as they are built, consisting of advanced composites rigidly set in place. Your area’s leader in your new job just assigned you to a Lean Six Sigma improvement project.
As a first task, she asked you to comment on the following problem statement for the project charter: “The Bridgeport, West Virginia unit is producing undercooked space hardware. Customer dissatisfaction with the hardware is resulting in returns and bad word of mouth. The parts are supposed to cure at 121° for 200 minutes.”
